ELDT Passenger Endorsement Theory Course

Expand your commercial driving opportunities with the ELDT Passenger Endorsement Theory Course. This FMCSA-compliant program provides the federally required Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) theory instruction necessary for obtaining the Passenger (P) endorsement on a Commercial Driver License (CDL). Whether you plan to drive shuttle buses, motorcoaches, transit vehicles, church buses, or other passenger-carrying vehicles, this course builds the knowledge foundation needed to safely transport passengers.

Students receive comprehensive instruction in passenger vehicle inspection procedures, safe loading and unloading practices, passenger safety, emergency management, trip planning, defensive driving techniques, and the operational differences associated with transporting passengers versus cargo. The course also covers federal regulations, vehicle systems, driver responsibilities, and techniques for maintaining passenger comfort and confidence while operating safely in a variety of traffic and weather conditions.

This course fulfills the ELDT theory training requirement for the Passenger endorsement; however, students should understand that FMCSA regulations also require practical behind-the-wheel training and evaluation before the endorsement can be issued. SAGE Truck Driving Schools does not provide the required Passenger endorsement behind-the-wheel training. Students must complete the practical driving portion through another FMCSA-approved training provider that offers Passenger endorsement BTW instruction.

This theory-only course is ideal for individuals entering the passenger transportation industry or CDL drivers seeking to expand their qualifications and employment options. Upon successful completion, student training records are electronically submitted to the FMCSA Training Provider Registry (TPR), satisfying the ELDT theory training requirement prior to continuing with BTW training and state endorsement testing.
